Wednesday 10th March - evening -

Meeting the Norwegian Partners.

On arrival to Norway we were pleasantly surprised to find out that we would be going to Benta's home for dinner. Several Norwegian teachers came to pick us up at the hotel. It was wonderful to see everyone gathered together. Bents made a gorgeous carrot soup with ginger and orange juice. Tonye baked a tasty focaccia style bread. There was a lot of care and attention put into the meal.
Benta's home was very inviting and the rooms were quite large in comparison to a traditional Irish home. There was a large freezer bigger than I had ever seen except in restaurants in Ireland and the walls were decorated with various pictures of Benta's family wearing traditional Norwegian clothing.

Preparing for the events ahead

After dinner we went upstairs where we chatted about the events to come. Maps were taken out and we orientated ourselves to where we were in Trondheim.

Benta had many little bottles on wooden beams near the ceiling and she had filled them with sand from all her favourite places. It was nice to share these moments and see Benta's home. It gave us a glimpse of the more personal customs and cultural values in Norway.
