Trondheim Cathedral the biggest church in northern Norway.

We had a lovely visit around this interesting building.  No photgrpahy was allowed.  Here is a brief version of our tour.

St Olaf was originally a Viking.
1014 he got a baptism and returned to Norway with 2 goals
Olaf believes he was a descendent of the kings and he wanted to become the king of Norway in his early 20's

His 2nd goal was to have Christianity the only legal religion - and done it with the sword in one hand - killing those who did not submit.

This strengthening relationship between church and king

Eventually he became unpopular and he fled Norway.

In 1030 Big battle to retain his crown which ended in his death.

He is said to be buried on the site of the cathedral.
Lots of stories about Olaf - Olaf blood had healing properties. Cure blindness

So they dug him up and he was canonised

A quick visit to the Art Museum adjacent to the Cathedral - trondheimkunstmuseum

Lovely meet up with the partners in a fab restaurant that used to be a farm house.
